The bottom line with analytics is simple: To make analytics more meaningful, you must be able to answer the business’s key questions. Equally, you have to measure what is meaningful for your company, and not necessarily use best practices. If you don’t know what to measure, you cannot gain any insight from it. Worse, if you measure the wrong thing, your conclusion may actually lead you down a path that can negatively impact business performance. In our research, (and in our work with clients) we have observed three challenges that companies typically face when trying to make analytics more meaningful.
